Some pics from MPACT
So I posted earlier about MPACT and needless to say there was 0 response on this forum. Anyways I just wanted to post some pics from the event. It's a shame that this forum isn't as active or supported by enthusiasts like the 3, 1, or M forums. Anyways hope you guys enjoy.

Car looks good, man. I saw your Z on a video of the event posted on M3Post. I, too, am always bummed by the lack of enthusiasts with E89 Z4s.
What is your wheel and tire setup? Looks very good. |

Thanks man! Here is my set up:
Linea Corse LC8181 f: 19x8.5 et 30 r: 19x10 et 37 Tires Continental Extreme Contact DWS f: 245/ 35/ 19 r: 275/ 30/ 19 Thanks for the heads up about the video. I'll have to check it out. and yea, what a shame of lack of enthusiasts. Total bummer. These cars have so much potential. I raced my buddies 1 series w/fbo Cobb stage 2. From a 40mph rolling start I had him. I also had a full tank of gas weighing me down where as he had a half tank with race gas. At 60mph he beat me by a 2 car lengths at the top of the track. Same thing when I ran a 460hp@ wheels turbo end m3. On the edge 40mph rolling starts we were neck and neck thanks to the Z's enormous torque and dct. At 60 he only beat me by a car length at the most. I think with downpipes and improved cooling the Z can be a strong contender. I did notice on my 4th and 5th consecutive runs the gaps grew wider. The first 2-3 runs where very close, not even a full car length. |

I agree wholeheartedly about the Z. I'm in the process of modding mine right now. So far I have an Evolution Racewerks intercooler and charge pipe, Tial BOV, and a filter and oil thermostat replacement from BMS. I also have a Cobb AP. Next up are some AR downpipes (probably catted) and then a Cobb pro tune. Someday I also hope to add KW v3s and an LSD. |

What do you think about the oil thermostat? Does it help?
I have a Wagner fmic which I like for now, but I'm also considering a 7 inch upgrade for the future, along with catted dp. Rubbing wise. I would say no for daily driving in local roads, only small rub on high speed highway dips or large incline drive ways. My tires don't show any signs of damage so I'm OK with the rare occasions I mentioned above. |

Me either. Only E86 Z4Ms. Plenty of those.

It's my understanding that BMW keeps the oil temps so high to reduce emissions but I can't imagine it's good for the oil's longevity to be constantly at 250 degrees F. I feel better with the oil temps being down to around 210 degrees. I imagine it helps keep the rest of the fluids cooler as well. |

I agree with you completely on the cooling. When I was at buttonwillow in May I struggled in a huge way with limp mode with engine completely stock, as well as brake fade. Hujan, one concern I would have with the temp thermostat is increased carbon buildup on the intake valves from the lower oil temps. There is a thread going on in the other subforum about this. My sense is that if the stock cooling can't keep the oil from going to 250F to 300F then a lower temp thermostat is just slightly delaying the inevitable, and aftermarket oil cooler etc are needed. |

I'm the only E89 I've ever seen at any NASANE events. I was at MPACT, but didn't really get a chance to look around since I was on the road course all day.
Here's a pic of my car from MPACT

The only reason I would hesitate is because the 40 mm disparity front to rear might exacerbate understeer (the M3 has a 20 mm disparity stock). And I'd be afraid of rubbing (though there is a little room yet even with the 265 PSS). Quote:
Speaking of carbon buildup, as the Z approaches 40k miles, I probably need to address what's undoubtedly been built up. Do you have any recommendations for a place to do a good walnut blast in San Diego? |

Which course did you guys run? Poconos East on a ninja my very first track day ever!
Hujan, maybe you can change the rear toe. I brought it closer to zero and like it better than stock As for the carbon buildup, some advice I'd gotten and also read online is that really heating engine up (>20 minutes at >4000rpm) regularly keeps build up from being a problem. I've been following that advice since I got the car, so I haven't thought about the walnut blasting. Btw, what are you thinking for your next DE? |

Lack of a true E89 M didn't help either. Nice photos jts1981. You track with top down?

i was thinking of asking the mods to create a consolidated track section rather than a track section within each 123456789mzxpost. |

Looks like I just missed you. At one point I parked in front of you while we were setting up the Ideas booth. I like what you did with your ride. #becauseracecar
