actual results (i don't count the porsche since any 981 is vastly superior to both e89 and any 370Z or its variants.)

I'll translate it for you... "if you go to the track, replace your Z435 with something else or heavily modify it, because stock vs. stock you will be taken to school by Porsches and 370z"
I think the first 2 corners of the race says it all. Z435 starts at the pole and gets out accelerated in a straight line by the 370z then gets out cornered by the Cayman S |

Honestly, I am surprised that the Z4 did not do worse. A stock Z4 is no track car. However with a Stage 2 tune, coilovers, DP, FMIC and exhaust it should beat every car on that track.

Check out 5:10 in the video. I think this was during lap 3?
The oil temp needle is very much on the right side of center marking already. In my experience, the car is on the verge of power reduction at that point, if not already doing it. They don't show the Z4 tach anymore during the last lap. I wonder if it is because the car went into limp mode and they didn't want to offend BMW Not sure how many total laps they had prior to filming this 5 lap sprint race but to me this shows the biggest weakness of the E89... cooling.. IMHO, if BMW put better FMIC and more oil cooling to keep the power consistent, and sportier tires the Z4 would have put on a better showing |

Don't forget that the BMW is a hardtop convertible. That in itself sold me on the Z4. In all-out performance, the Z4 is not the best sportscar. I live in northern Alberta and there are a lot of days that you can drive, but not with the top down. I traded my 350z for my Z4. The 350z handles better, but the Z4 rides better. I don't live at the track and four hours of 350 time is more than my back can take. Kudos to Nissan though. Really a first rate sportscar in that price range. As for the boxster, our bimmers will just have to be runners-up as porsche is the highest performance car in this class (still bought a BMW).

Hehe I just bought this car for the look and the straightline performance having already coming from a N54 and knowing the awesome potential (and sound) of this engine.
