jparnes1,
Thanks for the explanation. Finally I understand what everyone is and isnt' doing. Is there a single thread that shows all three halo options side by side? Cutting wires worries me, even if it is a simple procedure. So that takes the Alpines out of the equation. With some folks having problems with the LUX bulbs, I'm thinking the MTEC bulbs may be the ones to get. Is the performance between the three that dramatic, or are we splittling hairs? |

There's no thread that shows the 3 brands I mentioned. There have been many posts showing LUX vs. OEM, Alpine vs. OEM. To me, Alpine is the only one that produces a bright enough light and looks like OEM. All the others are weak in comparison.

Also, I think I read in this thread that Alpine have been having and causing problems. Is this still true? Thanks! Michael |

Search Falconflyer and look his postings about the comparison with alpine installed. The only person who related a problem was Z4@Phuket. I think it was a yellowing bulb. alpine shipped him a new one.

if you just want halogen bulbs - the burger 'arc angel' bulbs are a decent choice imo. I had them on my 335i and was happy with them for what they were. lifetime guarantee doesnt hurt either.

mainly: because they are halogens they dim and turn more yellow when you turn on the headlights (just like stock).
they also probably are not quite as white as the LEDs. they may actually put out more light though, not sure. |

I won't be surprised if they might cost more than the actual alpine HID kit itself.. if you are to get it locally.
Just like how they wanted to charge me like $200 (parts only) for replacing a set of windscreen wipers (I bought it from amazon for like $20, but I will have to get freight forwarder to get it shipped to Australia, which I shipped along with other items for about $100AUD, which is still much cheaper) |
