How old is the average Z4 Owner?
First off, the poll is anonymized, so dont you worry Ladys
I´ve been wondering lately what the average age of a Z4 Owner really is? Just curious! I bought the Z4 2 months after turning 26, rewarding myself for working hard towards that promotion. Whats your story? |

Man, I was wondering about this earlier today I bought the 335i after I paid off all of my student loans. Then after a couple of years, I decided I wanted a Z4 more so I switched

Not enough votes to tell yet but it looks like a younger crowd in the US.. presumably as they make these cars more affordable for the US. Here in the UK other than the 20i which they did a deal on a year ago, they're expensive and the ownership is definitely older.

^^ bit of both on this. Cars are just cheap in the US and thus lend them to a younger buyer (in general). Z4 is though expensive car and is the main reason you dont see too many of them. 35iS here in Geneva when new my car was 104k CHF, thats 112k USD, making it substantially more than in the US.
I just hit 35 a month ago so thus 35 was my answer. Would i have had 112k USD to blow IN CASH (dont do credit) when i was 25, probably not. Not only does online tend to make ages skewed and rightfully so, Americans (in general) are more about instant gratification and would prefer to buy a nice new car but have no money for gas. I lived in Dallas for 6 months after under-grad at UT Austin. We called the people 23-25 30,000 dollar millionaires. Brand new 70k car, maxed on a loan and not but 5 bucks in their pocket for gas till the next paycheck. |

Bought my 35i for my 22 year anniversary at work. Retired 6 months later. Financed $60k for 60 months at 1.90% because I just couldn't separate myself from my 10 year affair with my over-modded carbon fiber 2002 M3.
When I see young guns driving $70k+ cars it reminds me when I was 21 in 1973 driving a $10k 1972 DeTomaso Pantera and the old farts rolling their eyes.

Austin is a great city
Looks like there is a nice spread in the age range!

That is, sadly, too true. I worked my way up to a Z4 and at 50 bought one new for cash.

One thing I've observed is that a lot of younger guys who have no kids use the Z4 as their sole vehicle, where as for most of the older guys, it's their 2nd or 3rd vehicle.

my story is a year after I graduated college, I got offered a good job that pays well. Saved up a year for the down payment and pulled the trigger before I could really afford it. Now a year later, I can still afford gas and don't regret a thing.

31 when I got the Z. Z4 35i was discounted to the level of 135i and I had recently achieved promotion that covered the cost of the car completely so I pulled the trigger.
@ManiacGT and VailM3 you guys are right on about the lower cost here in the US. No shot that I would have this car if I was living in a place where purchase price was over USD100k and fuel was USD8.5/gallon. If I was living in such as place would have gone with my plan B of getting a 50mpg+ commuting appliance and a 600cc race replica motorcycle to indulge the track hobby |
