its only worth it if you are running software that will take advantage of the additional octane levels.
running 98 octane on a 92 octane program isnt going to do anything for you but burn money.

Not entirely true, yes you won't gain much from octane but you will be at ambient temperature while spraying which helps out alot as heatsoak is a problem on these cars. Meth is the best mod after a tune hands down, a tune should still be first on your mod list.

its a good mod, but its for serious modders and it almost always comes after tune downpipes and dci, so since there are no downpipes for our cars yet people aren't to serious about modding there cars so therefore aren't really thinking about this, is my guess anyways

Reviewer: Kareem A. From NY US "The AEM Methanol Injection kit is very simple to install and Very easy to undeerstand all the error codes. This is a simple Mod that will give you alot more power. all in all I would give this Kit an A++" Meth kit is a great addition to your mod list if you plan on running high boost setup or want to squeeze out more power from your current setup. Most people don't invest in meth kits because they simply don't need it (not planning to run high boost setups) and/or they do not want to deal with the installation which can take up to 6+ hours for most setups. |

I wanna come back where it all started. Does anyone use Methanol injection now?
I'm sure it's awesome mod, but I still feel scared for my DCT.... |

Most of the drag racing BMWs are using automatics, non-DCT, and transmissions are the weak link. Meth cars making nearly 4-500 wtq is a lot to ask the transmission to support. It shouldn't blow up, but expect eventual slippage at peak levels. Clutches will need replacement anyhow in time, so why not sooner and more often. The windshield washer bottle install takes less than an hour, plus drill/tap the stock charge pipe for the spray nozzle.....assuming you still have the JB4 installed to integrate the meth FSB. Spend the $$$, enjoy the 500 whp for a little while then put it on the market for someone else to try. I found this $2199 DCT 600whp clutch upgrade thread.

Probably under the car.
If I were going to do meth, it would probably be a trunk mount tank and pump, and I would think very seriously about using an Aquamist system that runs off duty cycle and boost, rather than just boost. I would probably run 70/30 meth to water, and I either wouldn't tune for it or, if I did run a tune specifically for it, I would only load one with a Cobb flash tuner and only on special occasions. Also, if you are running meth, I don't see any reason not to use a DCI. The DCIs have the advantage of more air flow, but with the drawback that it is hotter air. But the combination of meth and a good FMIC will easily cool that air back down to ambient. In other words, you're leaving a lot of cooling capacity on the table by running a sealed CAI. |

I was thinking about running the line into the cabin and running along the door sill and going to the engine bay from behind the dash. I don't know if the later is a possibility though. Under the car sounds good. Need to check if i can find a route that protects the meth line from hitting to the ground.
As for the intake, i don't know. The DCI suck just the hot air around the engine and i strongly believe a FMIC can't cool it down enough. Meth surely helps cooling things down but i'm not planning to run meth all the time, atleast not aggressively. I might modify the stock ram air and come up with bigger inlets to increase the flow if the CAI doesn't give the turbos enough air. But that's for after building the DCT and running larger turbos. BTW the oil cooler i got doesn't fit in the OEM position. I changed the plan and used it as a secondary oil cooler and placed it above the FMIC. Made a bracket and bolted it to the radiator frame. So no it's not a direct fit. It was a hard task though, had to run the lines both from drivers side because with hoses attached to the above and facing passenger side oil filter housing the hood wouldn't close. |

I have BMS meth kit with AEM nozzle. Used WW tank as meth tank.
I don't think it is worth the benefit. You shouldn't use meth while tracking anyway. No point in daily driving either. I tried 50/50, 70/30, and now using 100% meth. You get 1 extra psi of boost for all the hassle. You can only benefit (probably ~30hp max) from it if you make a rolling race, that's all. Go for e85 fuel instead and a custom flash with proper fuel map that goes with it. You'll make way more power. P.S. Meth in WW tank makes me psychologically uncomfortable.
