Farmers Insurance Signal App
Anyone using Farmers signal App to get a discount on the auto policy , does it only track distractions or the app tracks driving habits. I am ok with tracking distractions as i never text and drive but not fine with tracking aggressive driving under hard acceleration or braking.

Progressive tried pushing this on me also. We don't use the info to raise your rates, just to offer a discount. And when you say no thank you, they try and pull you out. Why don't you want it? Do you brake often? Uhhh, do you see where I live? I commute from NY to NJ everyday. Ever driven in NY? Yes, I brake often. Crickets - case closed.

Agree, I will continue to pay extra to try to maintain any modicum of privacy I still have left. When I saw car insurance companies wanting to plug into the ODB2 port of our cars to "save" us money, I knew that was all BS. They want to know more about you and sell that info or use it against you.

I will say, the safe co program seems pretty good so I gave it a try on cars I don’t drive (wife’s daily suv and wife’s slk)
Their program only requires you to use the device for 3 months to determine your driving habits. After that you get the discount and send the device back. SLK ended with a 28% discount out of possible 30% but we rarely drive it. Daily only got an 8% discount because it is driven a bit more. I think it was worth it for us to try it. |

That’s pretty incredible for a full year. I pay $2,100 on my M4 and I’m not even in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Collision coverage alone is $600+.

Those are some great rates. I’m in a Palm Beach County FL suburb and pay $3,795 / year for full coverage on my M4 and wife’s 2012 Q5 with Liberty Mutual. Clean driving records. Rates increase double digits every year so we end up needing to price it elsewhere every year. It was $3K / year a couple of years ago. Deductibles are $500 but changing to $1,000 doesn’t move needle much. I looked into the tracking device but reviews seemed to indicate it didn’t save anywhere as much as people expected and often not at all so I didn’t bother.

LOL, they'd jack my rates off the chart.

I've been with the same company for 30 some years and they've never raised my rates. I've had 5 deer hits in 13 years and one dog attack (on the E90) - yes deer strikes don't count against collision, but still, the insurance company could pull some shenanigans if they wanted. I even moved to a new state and dropped my home insurance with the company.
