Music via Bluetooth on e89
Hi all.
Is there any way I can get Bluetooth to play music from my iPhone? Some aftermarket mod of some kind? I have a iPod mini hooked in via cable at the moment but what I really want is Bluetooth. Mav. |

My two cents:
If your car has Bluetooth for phone and not audio (like many earlier models) Then I recommend Tunelink. It is good but $$$. The earlier adapters would overheat but I think they fixed the issue. It is the ONLY model that powers up and connects automatically when you start the car. (most other adapters have an on/off button and you have to manually turn them on) The other choice would be Belkin. They offer lots of adapters. |

Do you have a USB port? I use my stock Apple lightning cable, the sound is better than bluetooth, it charges and I control everything with idrive.

The USB port alone in earlier models does not play or control music. It only charges. You have to use the Y cable that comes with the car, which plugs into both the aux port and the USB port to play or control music.

I bought the Tune2Air WMA 3000B for my 2011 z4 and it works great! My question: can I leave the device plugged in 24/7 or should I unplug when car is parked? I'm worry about draining the battery.........

Compared to other OE solutions it’s poorer quality but it’s your only choice probably..

As you'll see in the photos.... It has to be the combined AUX/USB socket, not just a 12v accessory USB adaptor as it transmits the data through the OE socket

If it’s the latter a lightning to usb connector should render your iPhone as an iPod as far as the E89 is concerned and should play an audio on the IPhone

I bought a Bluetooth AUX adapter from Amazon. Plugs into the 3.5mm phono socket in the centre console and works perfectly with my iPhone 13!

Ebay has 3.5mm jack plugs with a Bluetooth receiver built in, Plug it into the aux in the centre console and connect it to the usb to power it. Then just Bluetooth connect your phone to it and set your infotainment to aux.
