This car is nothing less than what you'd expect from Porsche. A car that despite minimal engine gains will have massively big benefits from all other areas and will perform at levels most cars with 600-750 hp do on a track.

You can definitely get an allocation. I am hearing asking prices of 200K over MSRP though.

Why would anyone buy this over an aventador SVJ?

To. Race.

Porsche is engineered so you can beat the hell out of it in a race, lap after lap, day after day. This isn't a sunday-driving car or a DD. This is their no holds barred race car which has aero to keep it glued to the track during turns. The Aventador is what, 600K? No doubt it's fast, but it's likely not Porsche-reliable for racing day after day for consistent results and driveability (in a race).

Where does one acquire an Aventador SVJ for anywhere near the price of a GT3RS? The cheapest ones for sale are $700-800k. Some people also don’t want to be seen in the “look at me” lambo. Even in RS form, the porsche still just looks like a 911 with some aero to most people.

the svj is just a different type of car. its a car to stunt / flex. if you're driven a lambo single clutch trans they are awful around town.

SV with RWS is the sweet spot. It also sounds slightly better than the SVJ. But impossible to find one.

STO is more comparable to the RS than the SVJ. If given the choice without test drives, I would have to think long and hard.

Sadly ~90% of these cars won't ever see the track. The 10% that do rarely have drivers fast enough to benefit from this fancy aero.

To most people it just looks like a bunch of “stuff” on the car. They don’t even know what aero is or does. All 911s look the same to the vast majority of non-car enthusiasts.

My favorite part of this car is how the styling/aero delivers the message that this RS car is intended for the track and not the street. This isn't a car people should buy for Sunday drives around town and to flex at Cars & Coffee; that's what the GT3 or other Carreras are for. This is for getting dirty on the racetrack. Hopefully the huge wing will keep people away who primarily wouldn't use it on the track.

The club I’m member in will definitely get 1 or 2 of those. We all love tracking our GT2 RS and 992 GT3 RS will surely perform on the same level or better.

What's that cost you annually?

How is the 2RS to beat on?

Exactly, that's why I don't but argument that customers of this car are purchasing it for racing. Serious racers wouldn't bother with a street version of a vehicle, they'd simply get the 992 GT3 Cup car. The GT3RS is destined to be a garage queen, cars and coffee star, and weekend car for 90% of the owners. Very few buyers will have the skill level to drive it hard enough to notice any real difference from a standard GT3.

Roll over cage doesn't intrude into front seat compartment which is good, all in all I like this 3RS.

1) It depends on so many things. Can reach a six-digit number for some plus deposit.

2) Honestly, it’s nerve-wracking. It is a supremely predictable, precise, balanced car but it runs a setup that makes it tend to slightly oversteer. I’s insanely capable and the lateral grip is insane but I’m not talented enough (by far) to truly test its limits. It also requires a ton of maintenance, incl. oil change after every race session.

This is poppycock. I think you'd be surprised how many buy RS cars as a track toy (don't confuse yourself with "racing"). I don't know what the percentage of people who buy RS cars for track use, but I'd bet it's no place near 10% as you guess. Far higher.

Also, if you can't feel the difference between a RS and a GT3 you're numb. The solid bushings alone completely change the experience.

I hope you're right. It would be a shame for the RS to waste away in a garage and not get used for what it's built for.

Say what you want about Porsche but I see a lot of their high end cars on track days. They pound around all damn day, just relentless.

Of all the "track day" type cars, you usually see mostly Porsches (especially GT cars) and there are usually a good amount of M cars too.
