Latest Z4 Spy photos (Black this time!) [11/14/08]
Best quality yet, great stance, great wheels. This is an amazing halo car for BMW. They better pack some nice engines under that hood |

Two minor things are every so slightly bothering me.... the top of antenna is higher than the actual roofline - does this look a bit silly?
Also, the twin tailpipes seem quite small - is this likely to be the 3.0i in line 6 engine, or maybe a 4 cylinder 2.0i ? I'm still keen to see this car for real though!

Yes, that's what I thought. They couldn't badge it as a 2.5i though, if it really is a 3.0i

i have a feeling this car is gonna be cooler than i thought.. current z4 is real sick.. just wish it could be bigger.. but overal body designs from so many angles are hot... i believe this one will do a good job topping it. Under the camo, it doesnt loook so appealing but im sure they thats the feeling they were looking for.

I agree. This is the one detail that I didn't notice in previous shots. It gives the car some needed character. I like the new Z a lot. Two things remain to be discovered. Engine and price.

If we talk about gas engines, yes absolutely sure that only R6 engines will be offered. For diesel engine, rumours are it will be same as is in 123d, but I don't have any conformation on that.

i heard from a good source that there will be 3 engines, all engines will have 3.0 litres. Badging is "sDrive", so it will be called " Z4 sDrive30i". Smallest engine will be sDrive23i (both 23i and 30i are N52 engines), biggest engine is N54 (sDrive35i). Informations about a Diesel engine are still unremained, yet it would make sense because of the TT TDI and the next gen SLK Diesel rumors (although it will be only a 4zylinder-diesel because of the torque)). Insiders say there will be no Z4M because of high costs, 2010 a "high performance" variant will be introduced with a boosted N54. Prices will be high for sure, BMW's price policies are ridiculous. Take the price from the current Z4, add a folding hard top(around 2000$), add Xenon's, leather etc as standard equipment (they will reduce the options due to variant reduction, so the base model will have increased standard equipment), and you end will up above of the 40k-line (standard model). sDrive35i's standard price will be because of that near to the 50k-level.
That's what i have heard... |

I like the fact this car is not the same old same old from bmw, at least with exterior styling. IMHO, just looking at this car, with no badges, I might not guess that it's a BMW. I think that's my favorite thing about this car. Put some 19's on it, with quad exhaust and lower it with some nice coilovers, OH YES....that would be nice.
