What is this light and how to get rid of it?
ZPosters:
I've been tinkering with the lighting on our new Z4 35i. I just replaced the halogen bulbs in the angel eyes with Lux H8 v4s (w/ adjustable color temperature). I also have a set of amber LEDs for the turn signal bulbs. But I can't seem to figure out to do about the illuminated amber LED in the attached photo. What is that light? Is there a way to replace it with a whitish/blue LED? It looks to be part of the headlight housing, making me think that replacing the bulb is not going to be easy. This begs the question whether it can be disabled through coding? I tried searching the forum but did not find anything helpful on this issue. |

You just need to get it coded so it stays off. =] I did that to mines already.

Little update for you fine folks:
I just had the Z4 remotely coded this evening by Okee of TRIPL3_0 Coding. (http://www.youtube.com/user/codemycar) He does excellent work. I had him code my Mini Countryman as well. He did all the big things (DVD in motion, disabling seatbelt and key-in-ignition chimes, windows with key fob, mirrors with key fob, disabling legal disclaimer, etc.). Most important to this thread, he was able to disable those yellow LEDs. Give him a shout if you need to have your car coded. All you need is a D-CAN cable, a laptop (Mac or PC; I have a Mac), and an Internet connection where your car is parked. codemycar@gmail dot com |

The 3 amber light are the front vehicle markers. They are part of the US vehicle code along with the amber reflectors on the front fender. I doubt they can be coded off. Changing colors is likely a motor vehicle infraction, although it is probably just a fix it ticket. The rear (red side lights and reflector) are all part of the rear light housing. I believe this goes back to 1968, as my 67 Mustang did not have any. All 1968+ cars had some combined or separate light reflector combo.

I coded mine so they never turn on (I have the cable and software). Amber side marker light delete is one of the most common coded features.
