Run Flat Tires
The wive and I are sitting at a red light recently in the Z4, and I notice a 335 pull up next to us. I look over and see the head of what appeared to be a very large nail in the 335's front right tire.
I rolled down my window, got the young lady sitting in the passenger side of the 335's attention, and told her they had a large nail in the tread of their front right tire. She smiled, thanked me, and then stated "It's alright, we have run flat tires". While I digested this bit of news, she added "you have them too". I just nodded, smiled, and drove away once the light turned green. My wive asked me if she heard the young lady correctly, I told her yep, these run flat tires are the best thing ever made!!! So, all you guys that have bought the non-RFTs, be sad in the knowledge your girlfriend/wife/whatever can not make such a similar statement!!!!! |

Did you notice if the lady was a blond? Who was the driver another blond? Did they drive over 50 MPH or did you notice?
You should have told her, better get it fixed or look for a new tire. The fellows with Non-RFT can get theres fixed for $35- or so dollars the RFT may crack your wheels think about your camber and the reenforced stiff sidewalls on your RFT and all those forces transmitted to your inner wheel rim ... guess you saw enough posts on wheel cracks

So they're driving around happily with no air pressure for how long? What a joke. These people, and maybe you as well, don't have a clue about RFT's.

Now now, let's not jump to conclusions. Perhaps she was on her way to the dealership to get a new tire?

Run flats can now be repaired. I've had 3 done now. As long as the nail is in the main tread and the tyre has not been driven hard whilst punctured and no damage to the tyre

In fact, my wife and I have driven over 15k miles and counting on a run flat tire I repaired myself in 15 minutes http://www.amazon.com/Slime-20119-T-.../dp/B0041FCMTC I check tire pressure weekly and the repaired tire doesn't lose air any faster than the other tires. |

Very funny story!
I would never repair a tire (RFT and non-RFT) and I would always change both tires of the axle, if there would be a damage on one tire. I do not trust any repair-method - especially at high-speed-runs on the Autobahn... |
