i believe it comes out with the black mesh, there are 3 clips on the top and bottom and one on each side.
the way i did it on the x5 with similar setup i gently pushed the bottom portion inward and it unclipped it

no no no , no bumper removal, heres what you do cause i took mine off, so i could get the black surrounds on, rather than grey...
1. sit on your tush in front of grill... 2. grab "the thing," with your hands 3. pull from outer edge with some force, it will come off 4. reverse it for re-installation |

Correct. Just pull outboard to inboard to defeat 4 interference fittings.
Black surround is so much better looking, at least on TiAg, but since every car has the horizontal diverter now as a styling cue, I left mine off when I replaced the faux grille.

Now this worked great, simple and easy as described by NWIE89 and Z4Z4Z4...
Took off the thing, did not know it was 2 part. The perimeter and the horizontal separated fin. Emm... If you were me, what color you would have this horizontal separated fin? The perimeter thing will be spray brushed in Matt black (to match the K. Grills) 1. Keep as is (Grey) 2. Matt Black 3. Glossy Black 4. White (My car is AW) Thanks guys |

While to the breaks might sound a good idea (it helps cooling them down) wouldn't though that affect your Aerodynamic when driving at high speed?? |

Now here is an interesting thing, I found... The right side plastic grill behind that thing is all perforated (open wholes), the left side, 70% of the plastic is closed with 30% of it having wholes (opened)... Emmm... I would certainly say there have been a very good reason for doing that... Anyone??

Any air that goes in those vents doesnt reach the brakes. It just hits the radiator, intercooler and oil cooler.
The wheel well plastic blocks the air from going to the brakes.
