Wax Polishing Rags - Cleaning
Hey guys, kind of a strange question...
What do you do with the microfiber rags that you use to buff the wax off? I've been hesitant to put them in the washing machine, but just buying new ones is getting to be a pain in the ass. I was afraid that the wax may have a detrimental effect on the washing machine as a whole and that the washed rag may no longer be suitable for wax jobs down the road. Not sure what could happen to the rag, but I've been somewhat paranoid about it. I would hate to end up with a rag that "looks" ready to be used again, but isn't. |

I've been washing mine now for years. The washer still works. My nice small & large drying micro fiber towels see waxing and detail liquid dirt - 3 yrs and stillworking. My yellow costco micro fiber rags, that I use to detail/wax/clean the interior get turned into other rags, like for wheel cleaning, when they pick up any dirt or debris which may scratch the topcoat. After that they get moved down the dirt chain further to oil change, repair rags - the wifes E46 with 130K miles consumes these. Next stop is the trash, after approx. 8 washes & repurposing. All get washed with liquid Tide, liquid color safe bleach, liquid fabric softener, & anti static shhets in the dryer.

Thanks guys
I've been using the idea of using them and then transitioning them into lessor roles with subsequent washes, but then I end up with a pile of microfibers that I've been afraid to wash and too stubborn to throw away. This helps to put my mind at ease. |

I use this:
http://www.chemicalguys.com/Chemical..._p/cws_201.htm Now you can use a regular washing detergent as well, but never ever use fabric softener! It contains anionic tensides which have kind of a greasy nature, making the fibres stick together and killing the cleaning capability. |

What kind of polish do you guys use? I have a hard time keeping the pollen off mine, i hear some are able to keep dirt and things of that nature off the paint. Any suggestions besides the obvious google?

I've been using the Zaino products since I received the car back from ED. The things I like best about their products is easy on/off, little to no residue, no staining residue on black plastic, the best tire cleaner/coat, great leather cleaner/softener care products, and the products seem very durable. Pricey yes but highly recommended IMO.

Their leather in a bottle conditioner is the best, the only "new car smell" I'm interested in. |

Where are you getting your Zaino products. I have been using Lexol for the leather and I am not that happy with it.

I agree with BMWZ4Rider, the Lexol leather product isn't that great. It's not terrible, and for the price they seem to work, but nothing spectacular.
Outside of Zaino for detailing though, I really like Meguiar's. Very commercial, but if you look into their Professional Line (I get the stuff of Amazon) they work spectacular. Can't compare them to Zaino since I've never used them due to cost, but definitely give Meguiar's line up a look. 90-95% result compared to the "professional product" I've seen used on other cars but for significantly less. Might have to try Zaino after I'm done with all my products. |

I picked up the Lexol leather cleaner and found myself disappointed. Tried to use it on the beige seats in my last Z4 and I couldn't really see a difference.
This was posted after my Lexol experiment, but I think bmwZ's post of "Black Z4 35i ESS Detailed" shows what I was hoping for. Since his post, I've looked, but haven't found Green BN. |
