Can I buy the upgraded 35iS air intake for 35i?
It is my understanding that the 35iS has an "upgraded" air intake system. Has anyone tried to order this part to upgrade their 35i? I would really like this if true as we have modded my wife's 35i a bit and more air flow would be greatly enjoyed. What is the "upgraded air intake" consist of anyway? Does any 35iS owner have pictures, please?

I just had a look on real oem. The 35i and 35is appear to share the exact same intake system. The box is part# 13717582927 for both for example.
Unless RealOEM is wrong, the only major thing I can see different is the exhaust system! Which is a bit strange because many reviews indicate differences in the flywheel, suspension components, air intake etc You are better off getting a high flow drop in air filter from Burger motorsports. |

I am planning on the BMS air intake. Anything that expands the area for air is a good thing, and they have proven that hood-down hot air with the BMS is better than stock. Just my .02

I installed the BMS DCI on my 135i manual. I didnt really notice any extra power but I did notice slightly better throttle response.
I then removed them not long ago. The interesting thing was I preferred the stock intake. Just seemed smoother. I prefer the engine noise too rather then the sucking noise. In hot weather/conditions it has been dyno proven that the stock air box gives MORE CONSISTENT HP readings. IE it actually gives more power since it isnt as affected by the heat. In cold conditions the DCI are better. The DCI reduce the work the turbos have to do to spool, but I think the effect is neglibile WITHOUT a tune. |

I have the stock intake and the drop in aFe filter - if there was a gain I cannot really tell but that is probably because my wife's Z is far from stock at this point
THANKS!!! Alext for the useful information - these car reviews are often idiotic |
