You're too late for your first service. Break-in engine, diff and manual tranny oils at 1200 miles, IMO.
If you want to follow BMW's recommendations, then wait until 15K miles. Many people in this forum do that. If you want to be more proactive, then email Mike Miller and ask for his Lifetime Maintenance Schedule: techtalk@roundel.org.

BMW's maintenance plan these days recommends your first oil change at 15k miles (~24km) for non M vehicles. Also, the car computes how some of your components are wearing, and will display the time until next service under your vehicle status menu.
Dealer's don't offer free "break in" fluid changes anymore for non M vehicles... although new vehicles do qualify for free oil changes (and new windshield wipers) on an annual basis from the date of purchase, regardless of miles. This fact isn't often put out by dealers. If you PM me your email address, I'll send you Mike Miller's "Old School Maintenance Schedule,"... it's a good read. |
