Back to the basics, when it started: it's good for selling used stuff that won't move locally on Craigslist. Or rather, it
was good for that.
It's also a great way to waste a significant amount of time on a Sunday evening when you don't want to be with the family and need to surf on your computer. A friend of mine often complained of Monday morning bidding remorse on things that he had no business trying to buy.
