Thanks to this post I managed a similar fix with a few M4 bolts and a bit of Loctite. This part broke for me as I was looking at the car to purchase. I didn't realize it at the time but even though I could put the cargo cover in place it didn't hold proper position and the top was very erratic in operating.... sometimes it just refused, red light blinking and the trunk wouldn't open. I had to fish for the trunk pull several times. Almost thought I had bought a real problem case, then I made the connection to this part and did the fix last night. The cover now drops into place and latches solidly and the top and trunk are working fine. I appreciate what BMW is trying to do here, but my god it's a bit overkill on the sensors.
I didn't notice that anyone else was having top operating issues though in their descriptions, or perhaps that was just a given?
