Did the Marai ever really have a chance though? From what I recall its only sold in California and was quite expensive, not to mention the first one was ugly. I'm still shocked that they actually created a second generation of the car.
This was definitely a necessary move for Toyota I think. The Prius is no longer the revolutionary it once was, the Rav4 has stolen its shine, and Prius buyers are shopping Tesla's.
