If he had helped the team win the SB last year and gotten to the SB this year, the Niners probably would have paid him the $18.2M w/o thinking BUT, since he didn't, I don't think he's worth that kind of $ and the Niners probably will play "chicken" w/him until they get it down to a more reasonable number (or at least I hope that's what they'll do).

If they are smart, they make him play his final year of his rookie contract next season. Then after next season slap the franchise tag on him. That would give the niners two more season to evaluate him. His numbers weren't that great last year. Question is what will his agent tell him to do, will he sit out and try to get paid.
