Mine is also 2016 35is, purchased in Nov 2020 from a dealer in SoCal for $38K. It had ~20K miles, nearly all packages, and even some warranty left. See pic below.
I bought right before the chip shortage, when people were still hurting with Covid, unemployment, etc. I think I got a decent deal. Car prices, especially used, have increased a lot since. $42K seems like a good deal to me.
