my AD in Va Beach normally doesn't take deposits, saying it doesn't speed up order fulfillment. the availability of certain models is fluid and is dictated by Rolex production schedule which seems arbitrary. a good AD keeps tabs on the flow.
that being said, when we voiced interest in Jan 2021 for two OP DateJust for me and my wife, he didn't accept any deposits. 1 month later, as a show of our commitment, I asked him to accept a deposit on both. my wife's 31mm OP DJ arrived the following April, and my 41mm Wimbledon arrived in September.
difficult to say if the deposit made delivery of either watch faster, though it seems more likely for my wife's than mine (2 months vs 7 months after deposit). |
