For me, the column shifter was always reserved for larger trucks and SUVs (like the family Suburban, which I'm used to). Interesting seeing it on a such a small car, but it makes sense because of how they got rid of the whole center console, effectively. |
Not just trucks & SUVs, back in the really old days, we had cars with column shifter like the Buick Skylark below and no center console allowing front seat bench seating.
