I think Popovich will need a few more than one more to become GOAT. He's arguably in the top 3 or 4 though.
Just because James says Pops is greatest doesn't make it so. James is something like 16-21 against him, so its pretty self serving for James to call him the best.
Like it or not, Phil Jackson has 11 rings. Popovich would need to double his rings, and then add one. He may do that, but until he does, GOAT status goes to Phil Jackson, unless James is the one who decides such things. |
If Jackson is so great, why can't anyone else figure out his triangle offense? I believe a lot of those bulls championships were due to bad officiating. MJ got a lot of questionable calls, kinda like dwane wade in 2006 versus the Mavericks. Don't get me wrong, I think MJ was a great player. But the league certainly promoted him and gave him a lot of breaks. And Jackson got all a lot of breaks having great players where he was.
