This was one of the most horrific shunts....ever....as bad as Martin Donnelly's F1 shunt; this is such an incredible story of immediate triage that saved Alex's life, and his fight to live and prosper again; I remember reading a portion of Alex's story, and apparently a turning point occurred when he was driving his BMW sedan street car (alone) and had a flat tire....he became profusely angry at life, started crying and screaming "why me"....and it caused him to just get angry....crawl to the trunk and find a way to remove the spare tire....and change the tire himself.
