To code or not to code ...

First, sorry to BMWZ4SDRIVE35I2009 for completely hijacking your thread!
Second, thanks to RobbiZ4 for your post on z4-forum about pulling the fuse for the amp to alleviate the gong sound!

Onto coding the CTM or lack thereof:

My Z4 specs are Model Z4 30I (USA) Prod Date 2010-06-18

The initial reason that I thought that my new replacement CTM required coding is that my indy local BMW shop indicated that it was required. Then I saw this article and the last part of the article indicates that post replacement, the next step is carry out vehicle programming / coding.

According to realoem the CTM part is 61359281723 for my car via VIN

The error code messages that I get are Instrument cluster KOMBI fault - A688 Coding data incorrect and A568 No message (status soft top convertible 0x27E), reciever instrument panel, transmitter convertible top module.

My code reader can read the ECU info from the new CTM, but the top still doesn't work, the trunk is inaccessible, and the gong sound is driving me nuts.

But other than that, everything is super...
