WD40 is basically a water dispersant. Similar to a petrol and light oil mixture.
Wouldn't like to spray it on plastic.

If you look at the gap to the right of the display you will see the gears.
I sprayed some silicon on there when it rattled.
In fact every joint in the car gets a dose regularly.

Of course you have got to ask yourself who would have designed this screen with exposed gears?
Why are they not sealed away inside the unit clear of any potential dust or grit falling on the gears. Especially with an open top car.
Their solution seems to be, to have large clearances around the gear teeth, so the whole lot rattles.
