WD40 is not a lubricant. It is suitable for removing stickers, tar and loosing rusty bolts etc. Anyway, I wouldnt spray anything back there without knowing what I was aiming at. I assume the noise is there due to dust and dirt accummulating over time somewhere inside. It is a convertible after all. WD40 attracts dust so I wouldnt use that.
