Did it in ‘94 as a 17 year old heading into my senior year with a cousin. Incredible. Like walking around the edge of a pie crust with 3000 foot elevation swings 1-2 times a day and those days you had to time crossing the rivers early enough in the day lest they get washed out by the daily rising snow melt.

Walked right up to the ranger station and pulled our camp permits 48 hours before the start without giving it a second thought. Today you have to reserve a year ahead!

Have done the Loowit around Helens a few times but never got around to the Timberline Trail (hood) or the one around Adams that requires a Yakima nation permit and 10 miles of trail blazing.
