I've also seen minimum post counts...plus X many days of membership used to restrict new users from even posting links and images on some forums.

The one that annoys me the most here is retro-editing SEO spambots. They will post gibberish, like "Cool picture!" on an active thread. Then, they come back a month later to edit that post with SEO spam links after it has been buried pages deep in that thread. A simple setting to prevent users from editing their own posts after 90 minutes (as seen on many other sites) would stop this, and discourage the spammers from coming back when they can no longer edit their gibberish with SEO links.....
