One avenue to check for extended warranty coverage is the Geico "mechanical breakdown insurance". It can be added on cars less than 15 months old and with less than 15k miles. I checked it out some time ago, and it did not look like it had too many exclusions. Could be a good way to get the roof covered.
By the way, I like the Z4 in your signature! Seems like we have almost the same car, 1 model year apart.
