I think the emblem button is bad. It contains a switch that's activated when pressing the emblem. I don't imagine it's hard to replace.

Makes sense. The key fob and cabin switch all open the trunk well. I'll follow through with these parts. I haven't a clue how to R&R the trunk switch now but I'll look into it.
