GT350R, or SS with 1LE if you want to save a few more dollars.

These cars are specialized weapons, engaging, fun, capable, well designed, etc.

Corvette starts to get too far into the compromise area for me, in terms of low/cargo space, etc. I could probably think of some other cars in the price range of what you want to spend, but many of those cars will be a b*tch when you realize they are close to (or in need of) requiring all new rotors, pads, clutch, trans-service(for auto), tires, etc. This is assuming nothing else is wrong with the car, but the chances of all the consumables and regular stuff being perfect are slim, I'd say the opposite is the case. Lots of people dump their BMWs when they realize they are getting close to the end of the warranty period or when they realize the next brake pad change is the rotors too.

Of course, there's the exclusivity of something like a GTR, but I agree that you probably need to spend more to find a decent one or a good Porsche that at least be on par with some of the newest cars (like the 350R) that you can get for the same or cheaper.
