Vernon Davis traded to the Broncos (for future picks, no players) and Kap is apparently taking the fall/blame for the team's failures this year.
Word is that the Niners are benching Kap this coming Sunday vs the Falcons and the talking heads are saying that it's likely that they'll release him so they don't have to pay him the $14.3M he's due next year. See the news
