Still it's strange. I mean English, Dutch and German are the only 3 west germanic languages, and English doesn't have either a germanic based wordcomposition or a french based loandword for such a common emotion.
Maybe wordcompositions aren't that common in English (Dutch is probably the world champion when it comes to wordcompositions)
Gloating maybe partly covers it (I guess it would be glee?) but it's more a state of self fulfillingness I think. Spitefulness also not really I think.
