N52 being non turbo and not direction injection bypasses a lot of systems that have been brought up as possible issues for the N54, such as fuel injectors, high pressure fuel pump and wastegate rattle.
From my experience, N52 doesn't suffer from heat soak caused power reduction and limp mode issues when driven hard for extended periods.
Lastly, I have never heard of N52 cars lemoned for any reason but have heard of many N54 cars lemoned due to the drivetrain

Well, For all us N52 guys, ESS tuning is making a SuperCharger kit that is going to add about 100bhp and is going to be priced around $5k. Kit should be completed sometime in June 2014!
