Good move (no pun intended). Just because you hire someone to do something, doesn't mean you are worthless and unable to do yourself. Sometimes it just means you place a higher value on your time, your safety, and the safety of others. I'm 100% certain you'd be able to figure it out and do it successfully on your own. But for $250? Sheesh, it's not even worth a second thought.
I've recently begun thinking of my weekends as being worth $500 a day. if I can save $500 and do something myself, but blow a whole Saturday or Sunday doing it, fine so be it.
By the time you coordinate with 3 or 4 dudes, get everyone rounded up, load up, move, unload, move into the new place, then take everyone out for pizza and beer to celebrate no one dying, you've blown the whole day. Not worth it in my book.
