I had the same concern when I decided to get a set of PS4's instead of run flats, and below is the link to the thread that describes different spare tire options/solutions, and you may need to scroll up to see my kit.
It does take some space in the trunk but the peace of mind is worth it given the "remote" scenario you outlined.
But now that you mentioned the "more then one flat" scenario, maybe as a last resort I need to throw in a can of Fix-a-flat
