IMHO, the NA straight six is something unique and special in BMW's lineup. Not many other makes offer that engine configuration. I thoroughly enjoy that engine in my Z4, and it's one of the reasons I bought the car. I wouldn't really have been interested in the car with a turbo four, and I sure would not have paid north of $50K for one. Turbo fours can be powerful and efficient, but they're just not in the same league of refinement and driveability of the six. Not even close. Been there, done that. Unless BMW plans to push the Z4 downmarket in the US, I can't see how a turbo four is going to cut it. Not in this price range.
