Cole Tomas Allen, White House Correspondents' Dinner, a total of five shots were reportedly fired by Secret Service and one from Cole Allen's shot gun. Close range....all missed. Looks like the one Secret Service that was hit with friendly fire. It seems to me that maybe our Secret Service needs to do a little competition range work like IDPA or some other run and gun. I assume they do but something isn't work right.

Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me. I've barely missed being shot twice while on duty. Once by a "SWAT" team member cleaning his gun after qualification.

Did anyone see the video of the incident that was just released? It looks like the security detail was breaking down the metal detectors at the perimeter, since the banquet attendees were all through screening and in the ballroom. Everyone in that area must have let their guard down, thinking that their assignment for the event was over. The suspect popped out of a side hallway door just beyond the metal detectors that were being packed up, and charged at the officers so quickly that only one had a chance to respond as the alleged assassin ran past at might as well be called point-blank range.
The officer at the bottom left in this screen grab of mine was apparently the first to notice the charging suspect, and got off three shots while the suspect was in the video camera's view. This is his shot #2, which appears to have gone behind the suspect with his backstop being perilously close to the three officers on the far wall:

Yep, it also showed a K9 alerting on the shooter twice when he ducked into a room on the right before charging. All definitely let their guard down with most facing away from the entrance. Even the SS which is surprising!!! Maybe they have been assigned to Washington too long?
I've worked with the SS before. They were always hyper vigilant and sometimes ridiculously annoying. I don't know what's up with this crew.
