Five of us went to see "Project Hail Mary" this afternoon. Three of us had read the book (at least once).

Overall consensus? A solid A/A-.

Reading the book was helpful, but not mandatory (although you did get more out of the movie).

IMAX was *definitely* the way to see it.

They did very well converting the book to a screenplay-- I wan't sure if they'd be able to pull it off, but they did a great job..

Yes, it was long (2+36), but honestly? If you gave me the power to edit the movie, I don't know how I could have cut 30 minutes without losing some essential parts/context of the movie.

Overall-- a great film to watch (*especially* in IMAX). No ray guns, sex or violence. It's a movie for smart people.
