With manual boxes and diffs you can..it’s splash lubrication and simple ..drain down refill..
With auto and DCT you have to purge the various circuits that have drained down..
On the ZF8HP the process is relative simple, monitor transmission fluid temperature then cycle various gear positions for various periods of time and top up..
On the DCT that process is controlled by the off board diagnostics computer..not by on board ECUs are manual gear selection..
Failure to do so may result in low level of fluid (there is no level measurement) resulting in premature clutches failure as well as maybe other bearing related failures plus poor gear selection and shifting..apart from that it’s fine…
