BMW Tire&Wheel Protection Plan worth it?

Just picked up my new 2013 Z4 35i last night!!(will post some pics later )
And at the dealership, the dealer tried to persuade me to get this "Tire&Wheel Protection Plan" for around $1500, up to $7500 claim, 5 years. And my CA sounds really sincere about it ...

I didn't want to rush into it so I ask her to let me think about it.

So please advice, is it worth the money ?
A million thanks!

It depends where you drive... if your roads are bad, you may risk cracking alloys and ruining the run flats and they're very expensive to replace. If your roads are good and you don't do much mileage, I'd say save the money and take the risk.

Personally, my 296's cracked and tyres got ruined. I got it all done for free but it was a hell of a battle.

$1500 seems a bit steep, but it is over 5 years so actually would give me great peace of mind. Check the small print though!

For me the answer is no. In the last 5 years and 3 BMWs I have had one tire replaced due to a nail that would have covered.

In my 335 and Z4 I go through a set of tires in 1.5 years or 20k miles so tire expense is a consideration but since they don't offer wear replacement the cost is not worth it. We also have pretty good roads in S FL so I don't have to worry about pot holes and such.

No worth it IMHO, unless you live in a place with really bad roads and you are not a particularly careful driver. I spent 2 years in winter ravaged Boston roads in my 335i and I didn't have any issues. Just be mindful of the road while you are driving.

If your have the older thinner 296 wheels (research the posts for this) then you are in for cracked wheels starting around 11K miles. Seems to be the norm.
i have had both rear replaced under warranty and one tire.
Run flats are also a contributor. I strongly recommend having a candid conversation with your Service advisor about it if you feel he is honest.
Even better, walk in with several of web site posts in hand.

Hello, I have a 2009 Z4 3.5i. My advice--Do not even accept the Z4 if it has style 289 wheels. They are going to crack. They are completely defective and dangerous. I drive on the highways and roads in Atlanta, GA and have had to replace 3. I have the warranty, and it covered 2 replacements only, because two of the wheels completely cracked (at different times mind you and not due to driving other than everyday and such) and were covered/replaced, but the third wheel bent but did not crack. I had to pay to have it repaired. I am an attorney in Atlanta and am going to prepare a lawsuit based on these defective, dangerous wheels. Anyhow, I personally believe the warranty is a good idea if you live in any city and will be driving downtown or have roads that are not completely smooth.

I have the t&w protection and used it once - bmw OEM wheels aren't cheap at $500 a piece.
I paid $1200 for my warranty so there's room for negotiation if you want to go for it.

If I could turn back time, no I wouldn't have gotten it as I'm on aftermarket 19"
