Color Customization Question - New 2009 2010 BMW Z4

I've been searching all over the web and these forums trying to find out if BMW will allow you to order a vehicle in any color. Specifically, I want to order a Z4 LCI in vermillion red. Do any of you know if BMW (still?) supports use of colors from other models?

I currently have a 2 year old M3 E90 (Space Gray, black and red two tone leather) and my wife drive a 328 wagon (very sweet buggy!). I almost bought a Z4 instead of the M3.

I'm looking for a third car for the CA sun, but really dislike the rather plain colors officially available for the Z4. I think Vermillion red with the new optional black roof would look awesome.

Any thoughts my convincing a dealer and BMW to do a Vermillion red Z4?

When I ordered my Z4 with M sport package, I asked for it to have a manual tranny and Crimson Red paint. They agreed to the MT but not the color, which is available on non-M Sport Z4's. So I htink they are particular with this kind of customizing. But you can always go BMW Individual and get things just the way you want. $$$

Seems like non standard configurations are only available on a few models in the US

"Since customizing is the core concept of BMW Individual, you choose from a package or a-la-carte. Packages are available on the 5 Series Sedan, 6 Series, 7 Series and the X6. For the M5, M6 and X6 M, simply select exactly what you want. "

Perhaps you can convince them if you hand over enough money ?

Why not just get it wrapped, then if you get bored, take it off. Otherwise get the car resprayed for $5000
