Cheapest Aftermarket Exhaust

Is it me or are e89 parts all a lot more expensive than normal.

I am somewhat ok with 1500 - 2000 USD exhaust, but 3K for some of these? (seems like the 35is ones are all more expensive).

Can someone point me to the direction of the cheapest aftermarket exhaust for a 35is.

a lot of them talk about all this stuff but not sure if any of the mare truly dynoed..especially since 35IS already uses a special exhaust. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you are correct but is probably because of the relatively low volume e89 sales, which translates into higher prices for aftermarket parts since far fewer will be sold than typical.

I have tried both ways but my verdict is that they are expensive for a reason.

If I were you I would either buy a full slip on system and I prefer supersprint over eisenmann but you could just modify your existing exhaust and you will love it :

Have your secondary cats deleted - easy and very very cost efficient, a great mod for the rubles - and if you don't like your exhaust tips change them with the ones from the X5 which are 90mm over your 76, or if you prefer a quad appearance try to source some aftermarket twin tips.

hmm...thanks for the advice. maybe cat delete n tips will work for me. put the money elsewhere.

Remus is probably the cheapest alternative compared to supersprint or eisenmann. Plus on a quad, some modification or rear diffuser will add to the cost.

+1, I got the same mod today, I really liked it. 1st I only paid for labor which was 100 bucks. Sound wise, dont expect a miracle since front cats are still on and they are restrictive, but other than it sounds really mean on full throttle..

there are two sets of stock cats on the OEM exhaust. one set on the Down Pipes (or DPs as everyone calls them) and another second set midway back. if you buy Eisenmann the whole system is replaced up to the DPs, so you would still have the OEM DP cats minus the mid cats. that is my long way of saying that simply cutting out the mid cats should be a good sound improvement and a little bit of a performance boost too. now do the golf tee modification to hold open the second muffler bypass all the time and you are set!!!

2nd Cat delete is a cut and wield job right? I wonder where I can get this done in Toronto, the places I visit looks too sketchy for this "skilled" job.

go for this option. no welding needed and if you decided to go back to stock, you can swap it back without any additional cutting and welding

I did this mod like 2 months ago, it is an okay mod for 100 bucks, it is a simple cutting and welding job, however I am already bored. It adds the TUM noise they are talking abt while shifting but it doesnt increase the sound that much.. so either I am getting a catless down pipe for performance or switching the stock mufflers with strait pipes.. but I dont think I will be spending 1k or 2 for a pair of mufflers..

With catless DPs, the sec cats removed and the OEM mufflers it sounds raspy.

With catless DPs at least a couple of central resonators are necessary IMO.

Thanks for pointing that out.. My only concern was this.. so I suppose I am just going with strait pipes instead of mufflers then.. I want to be able to go back stock anytime.
