BIMMERPOST NEWS2013 Z4 Gets Black and Silver Hardtop Options New with BMW Individual hardtop in two contrasting colours. From July, the BMW Z4, which converts from a coupé to a roadster in no time at all (even while travelling, at speeds up to 40 km/h) thanks to a retractable hardtop, will offer a new optional feature as a visual refinement of the tasteful kind - the BMW Individual hardtop in contrasting colours. There is a choice between the BMW Individual hardtop in Black non-metallic for a sportier look or in Titan Silver metallic for more elegance. Whatever the choice, the contrasting roof and body colours underscore the effect of the roadster silhouette even with the roof closed. Share this story |

Nothing too special but I know some people who have talked about wanting this. Given it's an individual option, it's probably going to be pricey? At least BMW is giving choices, even if it is as small as the colour of the hardtop...lol

Cost of CF top is the most likely reason.

ewww man, I thought the Germans had good taste. Did someone from AC Schnitzer start working at BMW design?

Not a bad idea, but the cashmere metallic leaves me cold.

I'm not love'n it. For me, part of the 'charm' of having a folding hardtop is that when the top is up, it looks like a coupe. Start painting it black and it looks like a regular convertible with a shiny roof.
Mazda just released a Special Edition Miata this year which is red with a painted black folding hardtop. I thought that was a goofy move as well. ![]() |

I think this is one feature they took from Mini?
Most Mini coupes has contrasting roof colors. ![]() ![]()

This was an old fad some of us old S2000 guys/gals started in 2002. This is very old school. I had this on my S2000 in like 2002. Over 10 year old thought.
It did look good though on the S2000. Black ![]() Yellow ![]() Last edited by Endless619; 05-13-2012 at 11:57 AM. |
