How to remove the steering wheel in E89?

Since my Z4 is secured from flooding in Bangkok for 5 weeks now. The estimated time for "DRY" is about a month from now.
I want to have my steering wheel wraped with extra layer of leather for a thicker feel. I can't drive my car to the shop, need to remove the steering wheel and bring it there. Can someone give me the advise how to remove the steering wheel?

The cost for genuine leather wrapping and Tri-color M stitching is only US$50

Thanks in advance

I would, if I was you get advice from your dealership, however, you can also Google it.

Here is one example ===>CLICK

or here ===>CLICK

Be careful there is an air bag in it, replacing the air bag may set you back 1,000- Dollars (whatever that might be in your currency). So seeking help from someone that knows would be very wise.

Try closer to $1,700 Rolf for the airbag replacement, at least at the dealer.

just disconnect the battery before you remove the airbag.

Theres 2 tabs to release it. Then just unplug it.

Should be 1 16mm bolt in the center bolting the wheel on.

$50 USD to rewrap and stitch a steering wheel is crazy cheap.

I have a good feeling with thicker grip, my E60 uses M5 steering wheel. So, this is the main reason to get a thicker wheel
