Armrest phone iphone cradle compatible with Iphone 4? - New 2009 2010 BMW Z4

Hi,

I'm changing from Iphone 3G to Iphone 4. I have the armrest cradle for the 3G.
Would the Iphone 4 fit this same cradle - even if one has to force it in a bit (I don't mind)?

OR do you have to order the iPhone 4 compatible cradle to make it work?

Hi,

No you cannot use the iPhone 4 with the 3G/3GS adapter... If you force it, you will break the adapter connector...

I tries to shave off the cradle for i4 to fit in, it doesn't work
here the simple, cheap solution use iphone dock extender from EBAY

my dealership told me today it is available for order now, i will try to get the part number from him and share it with you.

Ok I got my Iphone 4 now. I cut out two small sections out the top of the iphone 3G craddle and it works perfectly. It doesn't clip in though, but is quite secure...and it doesn't bother me at all. And you can hardly see the sections I removed.

Good to know if I decide to upgrade to the iphone 4, but after seeing the latest Droids, I may be leaving AT&T.

just remember that it doesn't clip in completely like the 3G, but it's quite stable and I'm ok with it.

Quick question, my car has telematics, Bluetooth etc with idrive, but NO USB in the arm rest, if I were to buy a iphone cradle like this would it allow me to play music from the iPhone and control access to the tracks using the stereo?

Or would it JUST charge the iPhone and boost reception?

Anyone got same setup as me willing to try?
