SILVER TOP Z4 Edition Released for Japanese Market

They are calling it the BMW Z4 (E89) “SILVER TOP” edition. While the body is coated in Black Sapphire, the folding hardtop and the side mirror caps have been painted with Titanium Silver. The interior features Coral Red Kansas leather seats. Nothing out of the ordinary relative to the normal version of the E89 Z4 but this color combo is standard on all the Silver Top edition. The base model is equipped with an inline six cylinder DOHC 2.5l engine Z$ sDrive23i mated to a 6-speed AT transmission powering the rear wheels. This combo produces 201 hp at 6300 RPM and 250Nm of torque coming in about 2750-3000rpm. The limited edition model set to be released by April 2012 is priced at ￥5,590, 000 which is about $68, 829 in today’s exchange rate. No word is BMW NA will follow suit. |

I would prefer it came with Carbon Fiber Top instead of silver.

I rather have the "purist" fabric top as it SHOULD be in a roadster. I always thought that the BMW move to hard top -some say following MB trend- was stupid.
Not only looks ugly but adds an enormous amount of unessesary weight to a supposed to be a truly sports car. Since the beginning I thought that this car never got its spirit and personality well defined. ps: Also stills a big deal of an already limited trunk. Stupid x2 |

Another pt is other ppl are crazy if they expect the Z4 to be carrying as much as a minivan...it's a freaking 2 seater and a roadster, not a SUV! That being said, it has a pretty impressive trunk. I carry a lot of stuff in there and it never disappoints, unless one is buying large furniture or something. Can't stand haters.  |

I am not sure what is special edition about that... Did they change anything else? Or just decided to paint the roof in grey, oh oh yeah and the mirrors??

Cf roof would be something I'd be more interested in. As the M spokesperson said a few weekends ago, it's all about power to weight. If the Cf roof plus a glass window can be made, the car will be have a lower center of gravity. As for weight, I don't know how much reduction will be found there.

April 2012??? if all it is is a silver top and you really want it, why the hell would you wait till April 2012 when you can just customize a paint job yourself???
