gas pedal on DCT not responsive (enough)

this drive-by-wire thing on my 35iS is a point of criticism that I have: when trying to slowly accelerate, the gas pedal needs more than just a 'touch' of the pedal and that's annoying. All in normal/D mode .... S and S+ mode will probably be different/better but less suitable for slow driving

Also, reverse needs firm pedal movement before it will go anywhere

Is this solveable by resetting the DCT ? Or is this a meant-to-be setup ?

Anyone experiencing the same 'problem' ?

I generally agree with these concerns but once I had the ESS Stage II tune installed on my wife's 35i - all of this went away but for the smallest amount of delay.

I do not experience that, because other than the first 2 miles of engine warm-up I never drive in Normal and always use Sport gear shifting. I consider Normal to be "slow mode" and Sport to be my "regular" mode. Then to go faster, I use Sport + about 25% of time. I didn't buy the car to save gas. I bought it to go fast and enjoy it.

If you have the active suspension just switch to sport mode. It is sufficient for slow driving and cruising, because it does not actually shift any later than in normal mode, but it does (among other settings) improve the sensitivity of the gas pedal.

Only Sport+ mode will shift later. Or if you use Sport mode and put the DCT controller to the left (same effect).

Thanks all for the responses

I will try the Sport mode and later on maybe also the DCT reset

Sport mode will also stiffen the suspension and my wife dislikes that

You don't have to tell her when you switch to Sport mode. Just blame it on the bumpy roads.

How to reset DCT

I can neither confirm nor deny, but this was pulled from an m3 forum. I don't have the guts to try it. Yet.

Going over either 40 or 50mph (forget exactly which), shift into neutral then pull back both paddles for a few seconds. This reset the adaptive memory that alters shift patterns based on your driving style. It help work through some jerky clutch problems my car would occasionally develop.

WHOAH!!! WTF!!! NO, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!!!!

here is the reset:

1. get in car, foot off brake and gas. put key in ignition, press start button (all idiot lights should be on)
2. depress gas all the way and hold for 30 seconds
3. before releasing the gas pedal after 30 seconds, press the start button so that all idiot lights turn off.
4. release gas pedal, and wait approx 2 mins for ECU to reboot.
5. without removing the key, simply start the car.

I have not reached 1200 miles on mine. About the ignition key, I have Comfort Access and I guess based on the instructions, I do not need to have the keyfob on me. Otherwise, pressing the start button with the keyfob inserted on your person starts the car.

Do I need to wait until I reach then to reset the computer?

Thanks!

That resets the ECU but does it reset the DCT?
If you shift into neutral the procedure would be harmless. The paddles are controlled by electronics and your in neutral. I don't see the harm.

I wouldn't try it without further verification anyway. Good input.

Well........i'm a big fan of 1960-1969 american cars, mainly GM. I remember my fathers white 1966 Fleetwood convertible, an absolute monster (BIG) in Sweden at that time. Too big for our parking-lot!!! Great times!

If I had to choose between that and a 2010 E60, guess what i choose?
