You can pack a lot in a Z4

Just finished a 10 day European delivery trip with my wife. I had considered purchasing the fitted Roadsterbags, but they are overpriced in my opinion and they do not fit in the overhead bins on the airplane and need to be checked, so their utility is limited

We bought two 21" rollaboards that came with matching 10"x15"x5" totes from Bed Bath & Beyond. We paid $24 for each two bag set using our 20% off coupon. We also brought a daypack and a small duffle bag on our trip. I brought my rollaboard I use for business travel but used the BBB tote

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...73159&RN=2141&

Everything we brought fit easily in the boot with the top up. By sliding the two totes behind the seats on the shelf and having the small daypack between the seats, we were able to put the top down even on days when we had all the luggage in the car.

I don't see the need to buy purpose built bags for this car- any standard 21" rollaboards will fit with room to spare for extra and room on top for suit bags, flat items etc. There's plenty of room in this car and lots of usable space inside. I am particularly pleased with the storage compartment and shelves that come as part of the Cold Weather Package in the US. Plenty of out-of-sight but readily accessible storage for sunglasses, camera, etc. Just remember this does not lock if you leave the car with the top down.

The optional skank alarm in my Z4 would go off if she ever got too close to the vehicle.

Well, I am on my 10th day with the Roadsterbags and i wouldn't want to be without them. Instead of carrying around 6 bags at every hotel i only have 2 bags on wheels. The 3rd flat bag sits on top of one of the big ones.

The Roadsterbags are limited...........to your E89. And they make packing your E89 a piece of cake. Well worth the money!

If you do more than 1 ED delivery per year and want to cut costs............hmmm pocketmoney!

I packed the Z4 to the gills on a trip last fall. It held quite a lot but fortunately it was only myself as I had no room for a passenger. If I recall I had a large suitcase for a 9 day fall trip, a large back pack with laptop and camera, a large zoom lens and tripod, bucket and cleaning supplies for the Z4, a collapsing chair, a cooler, some groceries, bottled water, beer, and 2 bottles of wine, video camera and suction cup mount, and 2 large cheese cakes (on the front seat) for desert at a party. The whole trip was documented here: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ghlight=dragon

I agree with the OP. The wife and I have found we can use our current luggage with no problem in our Z. We have taken two 3-7 day trips with no problem. The custom luggage is not necessary IMHO, but if you like it and want it, then buy it, it's your money.

Surely the point of the custom luggage sets is to be able to fit as much as possible with the top DOWN?

I haven't bought them myself, but would definitely do so given some spare cash.
